I have been accustomed to broad-nib calligraphy, and have only recently begun to look at use of a brush pen. Max has brilliant videos on his site on how to get going with this type of writing and these are extremely helpful. In fact he has been wonderfully generous in what he makes available on his site, and I’m sure many people are grateful for that. In this recent Workbook, Max has pulled together a lot of the relevant materials, and structured it in an attractive and very helpful way. It includes many extra tips and hints, on holding the pen, on hand/arm movement, spacing, tricky character joins (for me this is especially appreciated!), etc. He includes also a large number of drill sheets for printing off. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this workbook unreservedly.

This is what I’ve been waiting for! Although I’ve done a lot of classical work over the years, brush calligraphy proved to be somewhat elusive. But that’s no longer the case! I’m loving this workbook. The fundamentals are all clearly explained, and with a whole slew of worksheets, I feel confident that I’ll pick this up in no time.
As a sidenote, I had a customer service problem and Matt had it cleared up in less than a day. To me that speaks volumes! Again, I highly recommend this book! Keep up the great work!
